When people think about bringing a dog into their family, they often focus on finding the right dog. After working with McDane Kennels, I’ve learned that finding the right people behind the dog is just as important.
Mark and Mike have created something truly special at McDane Kennels. While I worked primarily with Mark throughout the adoption journey, it’s obvious that both of them share the same dedication and passion for the dogs they raise and place.
What impressed me most was the amount of care that goes into every placement. Mark doesn’t simply find a home for a dog, he makes sure it’s the right home. He takes the time to thoroughly vet potential families, answer questions honestly, and ensure everyone is set up for success. Even after the adoption is complete, he makes it clear that his support doesn’t end there. Knowing you have someone with his knowledge just a phone call or text away is incredibly reassuring.
My experience was a little unique because Glitter was a four-year-old Great Dane looking for a new home. From our very first conversations, I was amazed by Mark’s depth of knowledge. Whether it was behavior, training, grooming, nutrition, or helping a dog transition into a new environment, he always had thoughtful advice and practical solutions. He’s incredibly approachable, easy to learn from, and genuinely wants both the dogs and their families to thrive.
When Glitter joined my family, it was obvious she had been loved, trained, and cared for throughout her life. The time and dedication Mark had invested in her showed in every interaction. Although joining a new family is a big change for any dog, Glitter transitioned with confidence and quickly made herself right at home. She has become an incredible addition to my family, and I couldn’t imagine life without her.
